Marketplace for the metaverse Metahood raises $3 million

Metaverse real estate platform Metahood closes $3M seed funding round.

The investment round was led by the 1confirmation venture capital company with the participation of Volt Capital, Flamingo DAO, Neon DAO, business angels represented by Sebastian Borge, co-founder of The Sandbox metaverse, John Crane, co-founder of the Decentraland virtual world, and others.

Metahood is a more niche platform than classic NFT marketplaces like OpenSea, SuperRare and Rarible. The startup offers detailed information about the site and the area in which it is located, neighbors and attractions nearby.

“We really want to provide as much information and context as possible for the purchase [цифровой] land,” said Decrypt Metahood founder Gwendall Esno.

The platform supports The Sandbox, Decentraland, Otherside metaverses from the creators of the NFT collection Bored Ape Yacht Club and Somnium Space. In the future, the startup plans to expand the list of virtual worlds as they become available.

According to Decrypt, Esno is the only Metahood founder to lead a team of three. He plans to use the raised funds to expand the staff and timely improve the platform.

Recall that in 2022, the virtual land in The Sandbox project was bought by the Italian fashion house Gucci and the UK’s largest bank HSBC.

Previously, a plot of land next door to American rapper Snoop Dogg in the metaverse was sold for 70,903 SAND ($458,038 at the time of the transaction).
