Twitter to launch cryptocurrency trading feature

Twitter (the social network is blocked in Russia) will provide users with the opportunity to trade cryptocurrencies, stocks and other financial assets, informs CNBC. To do this, Elon Musk’s social network has entered into a partnership with the eToro trading platform. RBC Crypto.

Established in Israel in 2007, eToro is an online brokerage platform that supports the trading of cryptocurrencies, stocks and index funds.

Starting April 13, the Twitter app will launch a new feature. It will allow users to view price charts, buy and sell assets from eToro, according to the publication. The ability to track prices for cryptocurrencies and stocks, according to the TradingView platform, appeared on Twitter at the end of 2022. This can be done using the “cashtags” function – an asset ticker with a $ sign in front of it is entered into the search box, after which the application displays the current value of the asset in US dollars and a price movement chart.

Since the beginning of 2023, there have been more than 420 million cache searches on the app, with an average of about 4.7 million searches per day.

At the end of January, journalists reported that Musk’s social network was developing a built-in payment system and had already begun to apply for the necessary licenses in the United States. At first, the Twitter payment system will be fiat, but built in such a way as to add cryptocurrencies later.
