Ethereum Foundation Launches Ecosystem Support Program

The Ethereum Foundation (EF) has announced its redesigned Ecosystem Support Program (ESP) grants initiative. This new program aims to create a targeted and sustainable funding model to support the growth of the Ethereum community. The ESP grants will also help fund projects that contribute to Ethereum’s technology and community development.

Details on the ESP’s Grant Initiative Model

According to the foundation, the revamped program is open to everyone but now has two distinct pathways: the Wishlist and the Request for Proposals (RFPs). These pathways are designed to address different needs within the Ethereum ecosystem and ensure funding is distributed effectively.

The Wishlist pathway shows areas of opportunity and gaps in the Ethereum network. It helps developers, researchers, and community members find projects that can significantly impact the ecosystem. The goal is to encourage the creation of open-source tools, infrastructure, and resources that support Ethereum’s long-term sustainability and accessibility.

Meanwhile, the Request for Proposals (RFPs) pathway focuses on specific problems or opportunities. The Ethereum Foundation invites individuals and teams to offer targeted solutions for important technical or community challenges. This approach ensures that vital projects receive the attention and support they need while aligning with Ethereum’s goals.

No doubt, the new ESP model reflects EF’s commitment to transparency and supporting sustainable growth in the ecosystem.

Privacy in Central Focus for Ethereum’s Future

In September, the Ethereum Foundation rebranded its Privacy and Scaling Exploration team to Privacy Stewards of Ethereum (PSE). This move effectively shifts its focus from mere speculation on new tech to providing concrete solutions to challenges and improving the ecosystem.

Intriguingly, the team will define and deliver on Ethereum’s privacy roadmap while ensuring it becomes the norm in the space. Notably, the three core focuses of the roadmaps deal with private writes, private reads, and private proving. As part of its primary duties, the private writes’ team is working on a proof of concept. This feature will debut in Argentina at the Ethereum developer-focused conference scheduled to start on November 17, 2025.

The team also has plans to make private proving very easy and affordable. It also intends to make the generation of zero-knowledge accessible on everyday devices. All these are geared towards strengthening privacy on Ethereum.

Ethereum’s Broader Ecosystem Growth

In another development, the Ethereum Foundation recently launched a new Proof-of-Burn token, BETH. The move is to incentivize a burn mechanism in the ecosystem. The foundation’s planned improvements are delivered in stages through several updates. These updates help the network run faster, reduce delays, and make it easier for users to use apps built on Ethereum.

Last month, EF announced its plans to convert part of its treasury from Ethereum into stablecoins. The foundation affirmed that it would exchange 1,000 ETH, worth around $4.5 million, to secure funds for its ongoing work.

The decision highlights its effort to balance funding needs while showcasing the practical use of its decentralized finance (DeFi) tools.
