Employees of the power supply company complained to the police about the inflated electricity consumption in the Solnechny microdistrict. Law enforcement officers, employees of the prosecutor’s office and energy arrived in one of the yards. They heard a characteristic noise in the transformer box, and after a while they found about 20 pieces of equipment for cryptocurrency mining inside the building.
According to preliminary data, the miners arbitrarily connected to the power grid and committed illegal acts under the guise of providing electricity to consumers. The damage amounted to almost 900 thousand rubles.
A criminal case has been initiated under Part 1 of Art. 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Causing property damage by deceit or breach of trust”). The course and results of the investigation are under the control of the prosecutor’s office.
