ki9 creates ‘karmine’ script to counter selfish mining threat

Keith Irwin (ki91) has created karmine2 – a bash script that can be used to run XMRig3 whenever selfish mining4 activity is detected, in an attempt to prevent future Monero network reorgs5:

It’s a bash script to call a hook when selfish mining is detected. The main purpose is to activate miners when the network needs the extra hashrate. [..] When qubic is mining selfishly, the network needs your help! Additional hashpower means it’s less likely that they are able to perform a reorg on the network. So you can use karmine to run xmrig when your hashpower is going to do the most good for the network.

The script uses DataHoarder’s tips.txt6 page to find indications of selfish mining. Installation and usage instructions are available in the project’s Gitea repository7.

It is worth mentioning that ki9 has also created a Monero price API last year8. Visit ki9.us9 to learn more about his projects.

Note: always inspect the code before running any scripts.

This is an ongoing story and the report will be updated when new information is available.
