8btc changes course: from cryptocurrencies to artificial intelligence and the metaverse

Edition 8btc, one of the oldest and most authoritative cryptocurrency media in China, announced about its decision to stop publishing cryptocurrencies and blockchain content and focus on new technologies such as artificial intelligence and the metaverse. This was announced by 8btc editor-in-chief Zhang Hao in his Weibo microblog.

According to him, this decision was made due to the fact that the cryptocurrency industry in China has undergone strict regulation by the authorities, and also because the cryptocurrency market has become less dynamic and innovative. “Cryptocurrency is not our ultimate goal, but just one of the tools to build a better future. We have always strived to explore new technologies and trends that can change the world,” Zhang Hao wrote.

He also added that 8btc will continue to support the community of users and developers who are interested in cryptocurrencies and blockchain and provide them with a platform to exchange ideas and knowledge. However, the main focus of the media will be on the development of artificial intelligence and the metaverse, which, according to Zhang Hao, are more promising and important for humanity.

8btc was founded in 2011 as one of the first Chinese media dedicated to cryptocurrencies and blockchain. In 2018, 8btc received an investment of 100 million yuan (about $15 million) from Bitmain, the largest cryptocurrency mining equipment manufacturer. 8btc is also the host of the annual Bitcoin & Blockchain Summit, which has featured speakers from Jack Ma (Founder of Alibaba), Justin Sun (Founder of TRON), and Charles Hoskinson (Founder of Cardano).
