Last night, July 6, Aptos Labs reportedso that the Aptos Network Twitter page is compromised. Apparently, the scammers used this account to promote a fake giveaway of APT tokens. Users are asked to exercise caution and caution.
The studio also emphasized that this had no effect on the activities of the network itself. But the page of the company’s CEO, Mo Sheikh, also seems to have been hacked.
Both on it and on the Aptos Foundation account, unknown people promoted the APT distribution campaign. To register for participation in it, users were asked to follow the link for the purpose of “reconciliation of data”.
She led to a fake website. On it, the user had to fill out a small form and “claim rights” to part of the APT tokens. Of course, the resource turned out to be a common tool for extorting user data.
At the time of writing, the Aptos team appears to have regained control of the page, at least in part. The project “moved” from the Aptos Foundation to Aptos Networkafter which all publications on the old account were deleted.
How the attackers gained access to the page, as well as the number of possible victims, is still unknown.
