Blur CEO Urges NFT Founders To Boycott OpenSea

Known in the community as Pacman Head of Blur urged creators of non-fungible tokens to ignore competitor OpenSea and place collections on the NFT marketplace it supervises.

The initiative arose in response to the actions of a competitor. In November 2022, the segment leader introduced an on-chain reward collection tool for new collections. The code in the smart contract restricted NFT sales to marketplaces that charge fees to creators.

At the moment, authors of non-fungible tokens cannot receive royalties on Blur and OpenSea at the same time due to the peculiarities of marketplace policies.

Pacman has introduced several different scenarios:

  • lack of blocking;
  • Blur blocking;
  • blocking OpenSea (recommended by him option);
  • “peace” between the two platforms in the event that a competitor abandons the current policy of charging remuneration for subsequent sales.

“We prefer that creators be able to receive royalties on all the sites they have whitelisted without having to select them. To encourage this, Blur charges full fees on collections that block trading on OpenSea. Creators who agree to this option will be eligible to participate in the second season of the airdrop.” he explained.

Recall that Blur announced its ambitions to receive a $1 billion valuation as a result of a funding round against the backdrop of an airdrop of the utility token of the same name.

A number of major exchanges like Coinbase, Huobi, Gate, KuCoin, Bybit, and OKX have confirmed the listing of BLUR.
