“Disparte’s account has been hacked,” Allair wrote.
An unknown person accessed the profile of a top manager and posted a post that talked about a “one-time airdrop bonus” for USDC holders. So the company allegedly tried to smooth out the reaction after decoupling the stablecoin from the US dollar.
Circle representatives confirmed that the top manager’s profile was compromised and any links from the post “are fraudulent.” The company promised to take appropriate action.
This Twitter account (@ddisparte) has been taken over by a scammer. Any links to offers are scams. We are investigating the situation and taking action accordingly.

At the time of writing, the account is suspended. According to The Blocka non-company URL was present in the thread.
On March 11, USDC lost its peg to the US dollar after Circle announced that it was holding $3.3 billion in reserves at the government-shutdown Silicon Valley Bank (SVB).
The company promised to cover “any shortfall” in backing the stablecoin. However, the asset fully regained parity with the dollar only after the US regulators announced the rescue of SVB depositors.
Within five days of the deposit, Circle redeemed approximately 6.2 billion USDC and issued approximately 1.66 billion USDC, reducing the supply of the asset by 4.5 billion coins.
Moody’s felt that the incident would reduce confidence in stablecoins and lead to tighter regulation.
Recall that in December 2022, unknown persons hacked the Twitter account of the star of the Shark Tank television show Kevin O’Leary for a scam with the distribution of bitcoin.
In early 2023, attackers took control of the online broker Robinhood’s social media profile in order to promote the fraudulent RBH token on the BNB Chain.
