The Bank of Russia allows the use of digital currencies as a means of payment in the external market. However, at the first stage, the regulator will allow the use of such an instrument under a special legal regime.
Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseev confirmed the day before that the Russian authorities are ready to allow the external use of cryptocurrency.
Each company interacting with a foreign counterparty must obtain appropriate permission from a special committee. It will be created just within the framework of such an experimental regime.
At the same time, Moiseev urged Russians not to invest in bitcoin and other virtual currencies and recalled the risks associated with such investments.
The official said:
Crypto is generally evil, I think so. I think that people who invest their savings [в криптовалюту]are very much at risk. Once again, I want to take a moment and advise people not to do this. And this is our common position with the Central Bank.
