DeepMind: Our chatbot will bypass ChatGPT

DeepMind is convinced that the new chatbot developed by the company will surpass the famous ChatGPT thanks to a number of improved features..

DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis says his new chatbot will outperform the already legendary ChatGPT by combining large language models with reinforcement learning problem solving.

DeepMind’s Gemini will combine large language models with the AlphaGo methods that AlphaGo used to beat one of the world’s Go champions in 2016.

Chatbot DeepMind will be able to make complex decisions

According to the CEO of the company, the new chatbot from DeepMind can outperform other large language models with GPT-4 through reinforcement learning methods. The company considers the ability of artificial intelligence (AI) to learn only from text, and not through feedback, as a serious limitation.

AlphaGo has been a pioneer in remembering previous actions and using feedback from repetitive actions to help it make difficult decisions.

Google recently merged DeepMind with its own AI department to accelerate the development of AI developments. The company will launch an improved version of its Bard AI tool to compete directly with similar tools from ChatGPT and Microsoft.

After purchasing DeepMind in 2014, the company aims to set new standards with Gemini. In 2016, AlphaGo already defeated one of the strongest go masters in the world, Lee Sedol, in a series of games. DeepMind’s robotics division recently tested an algorithm that can learn to control a robot’s arms.

However Hassabis wants find a balance between progress and the potential abuse of the latest technology. He does not want to stop development, but will subject DeepMind technologies to external analysis in order to better understand the associated risks.

Earlier this year, Google promised to provide new features to separate fake and truthful content. Previously, the company’s AI policy prevented it from making a face recognition system and a tool for translating video lectures publicly available.

ChatGPT by OpenAI Seeks New Commercial Opportunities

Meanwhile, OpenAI seeks to provide new corporate business opportunities for their offspring ChatGPT, intending to make it a virtual assistant.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently told developers that the company wants the chatbot to compose emails containing updated business information. Google also announced a similar “smart reply” feature at I/O 23.

Salesforce has launched ChatGPT for the popular Slack work messenger, and Microsoft has also included Copilot in its Office product suite. Meanwhile, Zoom’s IQ tool uses the OpenAI model to wrap up meetings and generate email responses.
