Elon Musk imposes restrictions on Twitter users
On Saturday, July 1, dozens of users began to complain about failures in the social network Twitter. Later that day, Elon Musk posted a message announcing time limits for readers. He claims that this is necessary to reduce the load on the system.
In particular, these are the following measures:
Verified accounts can view up to 6,000 posts per day;
Pages without a “tick” — 600 posts;
New unverified accounts – up to 300 messages.
Later, the available limit is planned to be increased to 8000, 800 and 400 publications, respectively.
On Saturday, about 7,500 to 10,000 users reported outages to Twitter, according to various estimates. At the same time, the #TwitterDown tag topped the ranking in terms of the number of requests.
Some commentators have stated that the problem lies in the network infrastructure of Twitter:
The author of the note above refers to another change in the internal policy of the site, this time hidden. Twitter turned off public access to “tweets” late last week.
This change is aimed, according to experts, to combat the popularization of AI-based chatbots. Twitter is shutting down its database to stop leaks. But, apparently, this had certain adverse consequences.
In mid-April, Elon Musk announced that he intends to sue Microsoft. And here’s the strange thing, the reason for it was just that the corporation used Twitter data for machine learning of AI-based software. One way or another, Musk’s current actions can be safely attributed to a series of his grandiose failures as the head of a social network. These, for example, include his “war” with bots, ineffective and absolutely ineffective.
