Ethereum Price Performance Nears Dec. 16 Level
On Friday, the broader crypto market saw the price of ETH climb to $4,000 for the first time in eight months.
For perspective, the second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap traded above $4,000 on December 16 and hit a peak of $4,107. Fast forward to the present day, it has gone as far as hitting $4,013.67 on American crypto exchange Coinbase.
At press time, the leading altcoin has seen some slight correction, losing only a fraction of its recent gain. Per CoinMarketCap, ETH price is currently at $3,967.27, corresponding with a 3.61% increase within the last 24 hours.
This digital asset has also gone 10.23% higher over the last 7 days. It made a more outstanding performance in the last 30 days, with more than a 48% rally in price gains.
Other Key Metrics Signal a Bullish Breakout
The market cap of the coin has reached $478.15 billion, further repositioning the coin in the second position. Moreso, it is clear that it is gradually nearing the key $500 billion market capitalization. In terms of its 24-hour trading volume, Ethereum has a 27.21% surge and is now at $42.53 billion.
On August 5, 2025, the Ethereum blockchain handled 1.74 million daily transactions, based on a 7-day average.
At this level, it beat its old record of 1.65 million from May 2021. From all indications, ETH may have successfully come out of a gloomy season. It equally suggests that more people are using the Ethereum network.
SharpLink Gaming and Others Accumulate Ethereum
There has been a plethora of companies expanding their corporate treasuries to include Ethereum.
SharpLink Gaming, which is backed by Consensys co-founder Joseph Lubin, increased its Ethereum holdings by nearly 80,000 ETH. Altogether, this addition brings the company’s total Ethereum holdings to 360,807 ETH, marking a 29% increase from the past week.
Ether Machine is also building its Ethereum reserves at a fast rate. In the long run, this platform plans to contest SharpLink Gaming’s Ethereum position.
