Mysten Labs, a startup founded by ex-Meta engineers, has introduced a “permanent testnet” Sui Network. The test network will continue to operate after the main network is launched, and the data stored in it will not be erased after each software update.
Long running. permissionless. decentralized.

In November 2022, the Sui team launched the first Wave 1 testnet. In January 2023, Mysten Labs implemented the second iteration of the debug blockchain to test the mechanisms underlying the tokenomics.
The launch of the main network of the project is scheduled for the second quarter of 2023.
When is Sui Mainnet launching?
Sui Mainnet will launch in Q2 of this year. We’ll share more information as soon as possible.

According to the statement, the new testnet contains the basic primitives on which the development of decentralized applications in the Sui Network is based. In particular, community members gained access to the Programmable Transaction Blocks feature, which underlies all operations on the network.
Mysten Labs also emphasized that validators that meet the requirements set by the team will be able to connect to the testnet.
In December 2022, the Sui Foundation revealed the details of the distribution of native tokens after the launch of the mainnet. More than 50% of the emission will be directed to the development of the project.
