Ledger to release controversial Recovery update
Yesterday, June 21, Ledger CTO Charles Guillemet published the White Paper of the Recovery update, and also spoke about plans for the near future. As it turned out, the company will still release an update in Q4 2023.
The Ledger CTO also stated that the update does not pose any threat to the security of users’ wallets. At the end, he added that he invites developers and even ordinary users to leave their feedback.
What’s the matter here?
In mid-May, Ledger introduced the Recovery service. However, upon closer examination, it turned out that the function in the long term is a danger to wallets, since it opens access to the seed phrase. Ledger tried to justify itself by deleting comments and some statements that were “misunderstood” in the community. Then the release of the service was postponed, again under pressure from the audience. But apparently not for long.
