The developers propose to rewrite the bitcoin code
A record number of BRC-20 tokens created through the Ordinals protocol clogged the Bitcoin network and increased fees to sky-high amounts. Therefore, the developers began to gather for debates to resolve this issue. They had their first meeting in May, and another the other day.
Opinions on this issue are divided. The most determined offer drastic measures – rewrite the code and block the BRC-20 standard.
In the comments, users mostly criticize such an idea. After all, it contradicts the main principle of the crypt – freedom.
“Why can someone change the btc code? Isn’t that a big red flag?”
Someone not against such an idea and invites the community to decide for themselves whether or not to accept a new fork.
“You can change the bitcoin code. Improve it and then see if the nodes/miners accept your changes.”
Meanwhile, the Bitcoin Ordinals project continues to evolve. Last week they introduced the BRC-721E standard. It is a bridge to transfer NFTs from Ethereum to the Bitcoin network.
By the way, recently the number of Bitcoin Ordinals reached 10 million records.
