Twitter Suspends Popular AI Bot Account After Elon Musk’s Criticism

Twitter has suspended the account of Explain This Bob, a well-known AI bot that explains various phenomena and facts in a simple and accessible way. The reason for the blocking was a tweet by the American entrepreneur and founder of SpaceX and Tesla (as well as the owner of Twitter) Elon Musk, in which he named Explain This Bob is a “crypto-spam account”.

Twitter employees worked quickly – less than a day passed from the moment the billionaire posted a tweet to the moment of blocking.

The bot was signed by 400,000 users. The project was the brainchild of Indian programmer Prabhu Biswal. The chatbot used the OpenAI GPT-4 model to respond to tweets.

As it usually happens, a few months before the harsh criticism, Elon Musk confessed his love to Explain This Bob. April 20 he wrote: “I love Bob.”

Immediately after the criticism and blocking of the account, the project’s token – Bob Token (BOB) – fell in price by more than 30%. However, the project team is not discouraged and has already managed to post the call “freedom to Bob” and a picture with the symbol of the project sitting in prison, where Elon Musk himself acts as a security guard.

The hashtag #FREEBOB (“free Bob”) went viral on the social network, and many users expressed their support for the project, considering the blocking unjustified. They write on Twitter that the project token is not a scam, and the project itself is decentralized, independent, and besides, it does not charge any fees for the exchange.
