Unity now supports multiple blockchain projects

Cross-platform game development environment Unity has made friends with a dozen blockchain projects for Web3 content.

The Unity game engine now supports thirteen blockchain projects, including providers like Infura and MetaMask. About this company reported in a press release. The list of supported networks includes Algorand, Tezos, Flow, and the troubled Solana.

According to the description, support for MetaMask will allow video game developers to add the ability to connect to wallets within projects. Provider Infura will allow you to connect to third-party blockchains like BNB Chain (formerly Binance Smart Chain), Polygon, Cardano, Ethereum, and so on. Also, Unity now supports a set of tools from Aptos Labs to create solutions based on the Aptos blockchain.

Each individual blockchain project can be connected to Unity through the Unity Asset Store marketplace in the Decentralization tab. Amid the news, Unity Software Inc (U) rose almost 3% on the New York Stock Exchange to $30.4, data tradingview. The market capitalization of the company reached $11.4 billion.

The cross-platform game engine Unity was released in 2005. It allows you to develop video games not only for personal computers (including macOS and Linux operating systems), but also for Xbox and Playstation game consoles, as well as for mobile devices (Android/iOS). Video games based on Unity include Fall Guys, Escape from Tarkov, Cuphead, Among Us, Rust, Firewatch, Twelve Minutes, The Forest and others.

  • Earlier, Blockdata analysts found that the market decline in 2022 had a significant impact on sponsoring blockchain games. By the end of 2022, the number of venture capital deals has fallen by 75% to 14. Since the beginning of 2022, investments in decentralized games have fallen by 90% from $400 million to just over $50 million.
  • At the same time, investors are not very interested in the blockchain games themselves. Most often and most of all money at an early stage of development is attracted by services that can quickly generate profits.
  • For example, an NFT gaming marketplace called Fractal Wagimi raised $35 million. In second place in terms of investments in early startups is blockchain developer Iskra ($34 million).
