ZenCash token will lose its anonymity

The Horizen blockchain team, previously focused on privacy, announced about important changes. They will make adjustments to the network and remove the anonymity settings. The ZEN token will no longer be a privacy coin.

Previously, the anonymity of the blockchain was guaranteed by the shielded pools of the Horizen main chain. The developers are preparing the ZEN 4.1 software update. It will stop supporting shielded transactions (from T-addresses to Z-addresses) at the consensus level.

The program will be updated on the testnet in August 2023. The main network will implement the changes in September 2023.

Horizen is forced to take this step due to pressure from the US authorities, which prohibit the use of anonymous coins. At the moment, the Pentagon has imposed sanctions against Tornado Cash and issued warnings to other similar projects.

In a press release, Horizen emphasizes that they remain a secure and decentralized blockchain that is building the future of finance. The Horizen ecosystem introduces new solutions for scaling blockchain infrastructure. Combining the Horizen Proof of Work (PoW) main chain and the complementary Zendoo Proof of Bet (PoS) solution, this network offers innovative opportunities for developers. The native ZEN token is used in the Horizen crypto ecosystem in various forms.
