American e-commerce giant Amazon has committed $100 million to AWS Generative AI (Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center). The company plans to catch up and overtake Microsoft and Google in the field of generative artificial intelligence – a technology that creates text, pictures, music and other media data.
The Generative AI Innovation Center will bring together Amazon’s AI and machine learning experts with customers looking to build applications with the latest technologies.
AWS Generative AI will invest in promising startups that develop new products and services based on AI. Priority will be given to companies operating in the financial sector, healthcare, the entertainment industry, energy, the automotive industry and the telecommunications system. The Foundation was headed by Sri Elaprola, who previously created software and studied the problems of data analysis.
Amazon will also hire several new big data specialists, engineers and developers.
Amazon said that the first users of the innovation center will be giants such as sales promotion platform Highspot, cloud data company Twilio, low-cost carrier Ryanair and publisher Lonely Planet. The company expects to sell more cloud services amid growing competition in the cloud infrastructure market.
