Bridge launched between Polygon and zkEVM

Polygon Labs has launched a cross-chain bridge that links the Polygon and zkEVM blockchains. It is based on zero-knowledge proof technology.

According to the developers, Polygon Bridge for zkEVM offers almost the same user interface as its Polygon PoS counterpart.

The team has made a number of improvements, including changes to the progress bar, recent transactions bar with color-coded status, time estimates for pending transactions, and the ability to filter.

Users will be able to count on fast finalization. It can take 30-60 minutes to transfer funds to Ethereum, with the exception of abnormal network conditions, experts indicated.

The cross-chain bridge supports most popular assets, including ERC-20 and ERC-777 tokens.

After initiating a transaction through Polygon Bridge, the pluggable token will be automatically matched. In other solutions, this process involves a similar manual step up to the actual transfer, which can take hours or even days.

The teams of Lens, Balancer, ANKR, Alchemy, Sequence, The Graph, as well as Midnight Society and Oath of Peak are already working on cross-chain bridge integration.

Earlier, the Recursive startup launched the Omni Network infrastructure for the interaction of second-level Ethereum networks like Optimism, Arbitrum, zkSync Era or StarkNet based on ZK-Rollups.

Recently, the developers of the LayerZero omnichain protocol announced integration with zkEVM from Polygon.

In March, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin called the integration of zkEVM into the L1 blockchain necessary and inevitable.
