Russian banks announced their readiness to start testing the cryptoruble

The largest Russian banks have confirmed their readiness to start testing the national digital currency (CBDC).

Four credit institutions plan to start testing a platform for transactions with a token pegged to the ruble as soon as the Central Bank gives the appropriate permission, TASS reports.

Last week, the press service of the Central Bank announced that the testing of the cryptoruble will start only after the introduction of legislation regulating transactions with CBDC.

Alfa-Bank and CB Soyuz announced that they will be able to test transactions with the token in the near future.

According to the management of Soyuz Bank, both its employees and employees of the trade and service enterprise Ingosstrakh will be able to take part in the CBDC tests.

Olga Makhova, representing the top management of Rosbank, also confirmed that her credit institution will join the testing of the cryptoruble.

The bank is ready to attract its own customers who support the CBDC concept developed by the Central Bank in the second half of 2020.
