Twitter will sue Meta over Threads
Yesterday, July 6, the presentation of the Threads project from Meta took place. This is a new social network, which is already being called a replacement for Twitter. That’s just competitors are not going to put up with it.
Interestingly, Twitter sent a notice of preparation of the lawsuit on July 5, the day before the release of the application. This is reported CNN citing your source.
The letter is addressed to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. In it, legal adviser Alex Spiro said that the company misappropriated developments and other trade secrets of Twitter. Moreover, she acted deliberately.
News commented and Musk himself. On his Twitter page, he stated the following:
“Competition is great, but cheating is not.”
The letter states that Meta specifically hired and then brought people from Twitter to work on Threads. And those took advantage of their official position and appropriated “electronic devices” and documentation with inside information and developments.
Meta contributor Andy Stone refuted blaming Twitter by posting the following on the Threads platform:
“It’s just ridiculous. There are no members of the Threads team who have worked at Twitter in the past.”
Obviously, Twitter still sees Threads as a direct competitor. At the release stage, the project caused a high response from users. And although the network already has alternatives in the form of Bluesky and Mastodon, the Meta project is from a completely different “weight category”.
