Montenegro charged Do Kwon with using a fake passport

The Montenegrin prosecutor’s office accused the head of Terraform Labs (TFL) Do Kwon of using a fake passport and other identification documents. This is reported D.L. News with reference to the lawsuit.

If the creator of the “Ethereum killer” is found guilty, he faces from three months to five years in prison.

This could hinder efforts by US and South Korean authorities to extradite Kwon, who faces multiple fraud charges in each country for his alleged role in the $60 billion collapse of Terra.

On March 23, 2023, the Montenegrin police arrested Do Kwon, who was trying to fly from Podgorica airport to Dubai using forged documents.

The detention took place at the request of law enforcement agencies in the United States, Singapore and South Korea. Earlier, the media, citing the Seoul prosecutor’s office, reported that he was hiding in Serbia.

On March 29, it was reported that Kwon would face trial in Montenegro pending extradition. The New York federal prosecutor’s office also brought criminal charges against the TFL co-founder on eight counts.

In April, investigators uncovered $314 million in TFL-related illegal assets.

Previously, Do Kwon sent 9 billion won ($7 million) to law firm Kim & Chang months before the collapse of the Terra ecosystem.
