Warren is known as a supporter of tight crypto regulation. In her opinion, it is possible to ensure the safety of investors only through the introduction of a regulatory framework for the industry.
The letter, in addition to Elizabeth Warren, was also signed by Democrat Chris van Holen and Republican Roger Marshall. It says that some countries are trying to circumvent US sanctions with the help of digital currencies and use the services of bitcoin exchanges.
Senators have data that the legalization of criminal proceeds through virtual currencies has already exceeded $ 10 billion. Binance and its American representative office Binance US should publish information on the availability of reserves and report on compliance with US anti-money laundering laws.
The authors of the letter require Binance to provide information from 2017. The same information should be made public by all subsidiaries of the largest cryptocurrency exchange.
