The Trust Wallet cryptocurrency wallet now supports The Open Network blockchain standard along with the native TON token.
Trust Wallet now supports the TON token of The Open Network blockchain ecosystem. This publication “Durov’s Code” reported on its page in the “Telegram”. Previously, the wallet supported the TON token in a tokenized version on the BEP-20 and ERC-20 standards, but now Trust Wallet also supports the original TON.
Note that at the time of writing, neither Trust Wallet nor TON publicly announced the innovation. In mid-April, The Open Network blockchain added support for assets from the Ethereum network using its own cross-chain bridge.
In January, the TON Foundation announced the launch of TON Storage, a decentralized solution for sharing files and storing data through a decentralized network. In addition, it is known that the developers are preparing to introduce decentralized tools on TON in the Telegram messenger.
In April, Trust Wallet discovered a vulnerability in a browser extension. According to developers, the flaw allowed attackers to steal $170,000 worth of cryptocurrencies. In a statement dated April 22, the Trust Wallet team said that the problem only affected browser wallets created between November 14 and 23, 2022. Mobile wallets, including those imported into the browser extension, were not affected.
The project team assured that they would return the stolen funds to affected users. Trust Wallet also rolled out a refund system that will notify the owners of hacked wallets through browser extensions. Application for funds can be submitted within 60 days – until June 22.
At the time of writing, the TON exchange rate in the TON/USDT trading pair is just over $2 and almost did not react to the news about the inclusion of the token in the Trust Wallet listing. The market capitalization of TON is fixed at $2.5 billion, according to TradingView.
